Life has a funny way of making transitions feel like total chaos, doesn’t it? After years of raising my girls alone, the anxiety became a constant companion. It wasn’t until I started to slow down that I realized just how much energy I had been pouring into just surviving .
I learned to focus on what was in front of me, one step at a time. Whether it was planning a spring break trip or making sure I had gas to get to work, I was conditioned to only take in what I could handle. Fast forward to now, and my daughters are grown. I’m proud of the women they’ve become, but I can’t deny the exhaustion that lingers.
So why does it still feel like chaos? Why isn’t there a sense of relief, even after all this hard work? It’s as if I’ve crossed the finish line, but the race continues. The truth is, I’ve spent so many years training myself to be on —to be the problem-solver, the doer—that learning how to just be has been its own challenge.
But I’m getting there. Slowly, I’m learning what it means to take a break, to pause, to breathe.
And if you’re feeling the same way, you’re not alone.
Here’s what helped me begin to transition from surviving to thriving:
-
Pacing myself : I started focusing on small wins every day, giving myself grace instead of holding myself to impossible standards.
-
Learning intentionality : Being intentional with my time and energy helped me reclaim my mental space. I stopped multitasking my way through life.
-
Making rest a priority : I had to teach myself that it’s okay to relax. It’s part of the healing process.
I’m proud of where I am now, but I’m also learning that the journey doesn’t end. I’m becoming the woman I’ve always wanted to be, and each day is a step closer.
Where are you in your journey? If this resonates with you, tell me where you’re at. Together, we can explore how to shift from chaos to calm, and how to embrace the process of becoming who you’re meant to be ~Jackie
