The Deliberate Moment
By Jackie Overstreet • November 21, 2025

When every distraction is strategic, each minute becomes holy work.
You used to think distractions were accidental, a background hum.
Then you start to notice the pattern, the whisper that always pulls your eyes away.
Not random. Deliberate.
Every moment asks something of you.
A notification, a comment, a curveball.
They all want your attention, and attention is currency.
So what if you treated your minutes like verses?
Short, sacred lines where you show up, then move on.
Anger will come, the Bible tells us not to sin in it.
That’s not a license to be cold, it’s a call to stewardship.
Steward your mind, steward your mouth, steward your minutes.
Here’s the practical pivot: when you sense the tug, practice a tiny ritual.
Breathe, name one truth out loud, then do the next thing with that truth inside you.
It’s simple, stubborn, and it builds muscle.
Busy equals worth.
That lie dies when you remember Jesus Christ did not measure value by movement.
He measured presence, obedience, and tender attention to people.
Perseverance is not sheer grit; it is guarded focus kept in a surrendered heart.
You do the work you were given, without letting every shiny thing reroute your soul.
Start now. Choose one minute, one small task, one caring word, and protect it.
Repeat tomorrow.
Share this with someone who needs permission to notice, then keep walking.
Focus Point
When distractions feel strategic, your next small act of attention becomes an act of worship.
