The Hidden Rooms of Healing
By Jackie Overstreet • December 6, 2025

God doesn’t heal everything at once, He heals everything on purpose.
Every person has rooms inside their soul they pretend don’t exist.
Some are cluttered with old memories.
Some are sealed shut.
Some are spotless because you’ve cleaned them a thousand times while ignoring the ones that really need attention.
This is the strange math of healing.
We work on what feels manageable.
God works on what’s necessary.
And there comes a point in your walk where the Holy Spirit starts gently knocking on rooms you haven’t visited in years.
Not to expose you, but to restore you.
Not to embarrass you, but to free you.
That’s what inheritance does.
It forces you to face the places you’ve avoided, because destiny cannot sit comfortably in a soul that refuses to expand.
Soul esteem is the courage to open the door.
When my daughters were little, I would clean their rooms with them.
Not because they couldn’t do it, but because I wanted them to learn the rhythm of order.
Everything has a place.
Everything holds meaning.
Everything eventually needs attention.
God parents us the same way.
He steps into the hidden rooms with us.
He pulls back the curtain slowly so we don’t panic.
He hands us courage the way I once handed my daughters a trash bag.
“Let’s deal with this together. Piece by piece.”
Some rooms contain your grief.
Some contain your guilt.
Some contain the moments you don’t speak of, the ones that shaped you more than they should have.
And here’s the part most people never say out loud:
Healing those rooms isn’t painful because they’re dark.
It’s painful because they’re familiar.
The familiar is always the final battlefield.
But something extraordinary happens when you finally let God inside:
You realize the heaviness you carried wasn’t who you were, it was just what you survived.
And suddenly, the air shifts.
The room feels lighter.
Your shoulders loosen.
You breathe differently.
This is soul esteem in motion — the spiritual confidence that comes from letting God rearrange what your emotions have been mismanaging.
And here’s the good news you might not have heard in a long time:
You are not behind.
You are not broken.
You are not late.
You’re just in the hallway between the room God just healed and the one He’s about to restore.
Take your time in that hallway.
Let your soul catch up to your spirit.
Let your heart absorb the quiet truth that you’re becoming whole in ways you never imagined.
Inheritance requires space.
Healing creates it.
And every hidden room you open is another place God can fill with His glory.
