When Insecurity Starts Talking Back
By Jackie Overstreet • November 19, 2025

For the one who can’t find calm, even in a quiet room.
There comes a moment in every person’s life when the noise gets too loud.
Not outside, but inside.
You feel it in that tightness in your chest, in the way your thoughts race when no one else is in the room, in the way you second guess what you said, how you said it, and why you said it at all.
And if you’ve been reading my last few posts, you already know this truth:
Whatever is happening inside you deserves just as much attention as anything happening around you.
Because insecurity is not a personality trait.
It is a signal.
A whisper from the soul realm saying, “Something in me needs order.”
And this is where Soul Esteem steps in.
Soul esteem teaches you how to separate what is you from what is not you.
It reminds you that your emotions may speak, but they should never sit in the driver’s seat.
It brings calm by putting things in their proper place.
Here’s what I want you to hear today:
Insecurity is not your identity.
It is your invitation.
An invitation to notice what your soul has been carrying.
An invitation to stop letting old voices narrate new seasons.
An invitation to rise out of survival mode and step into spiritual order.
When insecurity gets loud, most people try to outrun it.
You don’t need to outrun it.
You need to observe it.
Ask it questions.
Hold it up to the light of God’s Word and see if it belongs.
Nine times out of ten, it doesn’t.
Because insecurity feeds on assumptions, not truth.
It grows in environments where pity is served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
It thrives in circles where everyone is pretending to be okay while silently drowning.
But once you step into soul esteem, everything begins to shift.
You start recognizing the difference between your emotional voice and your spiritual voice.
You start choosing peace on purpose.
You start noticing that half of what once scared you no longer holds weight.
And slowly, almost quietly, calm begins to rise.
Not the loud calm that demands silence,
but the gentle kind that changes the temperature of a room when you walk into it.
Here is the part many people miss:
You are never battling insecurity alone.
You battle it with the Holy Spirit, the One who brings clarity, conviction, and calm.
You battle it with truth that sharpens your discernment.
You battle it with daily choices that say,
“My emotions can speak, but they cannot lead.”
When you live from soul esteem, insecurity no longer has permission to define you.
It becomes a visitor, not a resident.
A moment, not a lifestyle.
So if you’re reading this and your emotions feel tangled,
take a breath.
Slow down.
Let your spirit speak louder than your soul.
Calm is not something you chase.
It’s something you align with.
And alignment always begins with truth, Jesus Christ.
